Chain is built to need as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts, and your game progress never leaves your device. This page explains the few places data is involved.
Chain (“we”, “us”) is a free daily word game available at playthechaingame.com. You can reach us at hello@playthechaingame.com.
Your stats, streak, badge collection, calendar, and in-progress chain are stored in your browser using local storage. This information stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and is not stored on any server. Clearing your browser data for this site will erase it.
We use Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymous traffic (such as how many people visit and which pages load). It does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors.
We use Google AdSense to show ads, which helps keep the game free. To do this:
For more on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see Google’s policy.
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data. Because we don’t collect accounts or store personal data on a server, most of your data is already in your control: clear this site’s browser storage to remove your game progress, and use the advertising opt-outs above to limit ad personalization. For anything else, contact us at hello@playthechaingame.com.
Chain is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above.
